“Deep within us all there is an amazing inner sanctuary of the soul, a holy place, a Divine Center… to which we may continuously return. Eternity is at our hearts... calling us home unto Itself.”

Thomas Kelly, A Testament of Devotion, 1941

Spend a few moments looking into your heart today and see: Christ’s Light is there, waiting for you.

Listen

By faith even Sarah received the ability to have a child, though she herself was barren and past the age for having children, because she believed that the one who promised was faithful. So descendants were born from one man (and he was as good as dead). They were as many as the number of the stars in the sky and as countless as the grains of sand on the seashore.

Hebrews 11:11-12

Think

By all appearances, Sarah should not have been able to have a child; she was too old and far past the age of having children. But by faith in God’s promise, she had a son named Isaac.

Many biblical authors were amazed by the seemingly impossible story of Sarah and Abraham. In Romans, Paul describes it this way: “When it was beyond hope, Abraham had faith in the hope that he would become the father of many nations, in keeping with the promise God spoke to him… he was fully convinced that God was able to do what he promised” (4:18, 21).

The faith of Sarah and Abraham was not just a blind hope or a wish; it was an act of trust in a specific promise that God made to them. And by trusting that promise, something that seemed impossible became possible. Which of God’s promises in your life seem impossible? Do you believe that nothing will be impossible with God?
