Ordinary Time

Pause

Take a deep breath in, consider all the things that are weighing on you today.

As you breathe out, imagine breathing out all the stress and anxiety.

Breathe in again. Imagine breathing in the love of God.

Exhale and imagine sharing that love.

Listen

God turns rivers into desert, watery springs into thirsty ground, fruitful land into unproductive dirt, when its inhabitants are wicked. But God can also turn the desert into watery pools, thirsty ground into watery springs, where he settles the hungry. They even build a city and live there! They plant fields and vineyards and obtain a fruitful harvest.

Psalm 107:33-37

Think

The passage today talks about all the beautiful plans God has for God’s people. A future filled with watery springs, new cities, fields, and vineyards. It is a beautiful picture of the life God wants for us. So what keeps us from accepting and living into God’s plan for our lives?

We cannot fully embrace God’s plans for our lives if our arms are full of all the things we want out of life. We must have the humility to set aside our wants, asking God what it is that God wants for our lives.

We cannot accept the gifts God has for us if we are already holding onto something else.

Living humility means trusting that God knows our hearts, our minds, and the deepest desires of our soul and that we can trust God with those and trust God’s good plans for us.

Question to Ponder:

Is there anything you are holding onto that will not allow you to embrace God fully?

Pray

Generous God, thank you for loving me.

Thank you for the plans you have for me.

Help me have the courage to live into your plan for my life.

Amen.

Go

As you go, take moments throughout the day to stop and breathe in the love of God.

Then breathe out God’s love on those around you.
