Following the Star

Pause

When we choose to love we choose to move against fear – against alienation and separation. The choice to love is the choice to connect – to find ourselves in the other.

Listen

From Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for God’s good news. God promised this good news about his Son ahead of time through his prophets in the holy scriptures. His Son was descended from David. He was publicly identified as God’s Son with power through his resurrection from the dead, which was based on the Spirit of holiness. This Son is Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 1:1-4

Think

“Called to be an apostle and set apart for God’s good news.”

When you are introducing yourself, have you ever chosen to describe yourself as an apostle or set apart for God’s good news? I haven’t; and yet, as followers of Christ we may want to rethink this. Paul did introduce himself as such to let people know what his focus was and why he was showing up.

An apostle is what we typically call one of the twelve disciples but it is also someone who chooses to share the message of Christ’s abundant love with those who don’t know or haven’t experienced it.

Maybe when we introduce ourselves it is more of a reminder of our intentions as we show up in any given space. How are you showing up? How do those who share space with you experience Christ’s love in your actions? Your energy? Your words?

May you seek out space for God’s love to show up in you this week.

Pray

Holy God, may how I show up be a reflection of the abundant love and good news you have shared so freely.

Amen.

Take a breath, keep showing up with your whole self – this will allow others to do the same.

May we all live into our holy whole selves!
