Ordinary Time

Pause

If we are to love our neighbors, before doing anything else we must see our neighbors. With our imagination as well as our eyes, that is to say like artists, we must see not just their faces but the life behind and within their faces. Here it is love that is the frame we see them in.

Frederick Buechner in Whistling in the Dark (1988)

Listen

The Lord is good and does the right thing; he teaches sinners which way they should go. God guides the weak to justice, teaching them his way. All the Lord’s paths are loving and faithful for those who keep his covenant and laws.

Psalm 25:8-10

Think

There’s a lot of pressure to be a good person in our world today and a lot of different definitions of what being a good person looks like. In seeking your way, hold fast to this: God is Love and created us to be loved. What an agreement that is! Our job is to spread the news that God loves us unconditionally.

Be thankful today of God’s patience and faithful love for you. Do you ever wonder if there’s a limit to the number of times that you can make mistakes? The answer is no! God loves us with a wholeness that can’t be outdone.

Take a few minutes today to write a note of thanks for all God has done. Also take a moment to pray for your neighbors, family, and friends that they will feel the love of God this week.

Pray

God, who is infinite and amazing, please remind me that I am loved every day. Guide me in how to share the story of your love to all whom I meet. Amen.

Go

God loves us. Not because of or in spite of anything. There is no qualifier to God’s love.

God asks us to love the same way.

Go and love today and always!
