Ordinary Time
Pause and imagine! “The Spirit of God and the Word of God are the fuel of your imagination. The key to the strongest and healthiest imagination is a daily quiet time.”
-Rick Warren
I will walk around in wide-open spaces, because I have pursued your precepts.
Psalm 119:45
One of my favorite travel destinations is New York City. Whether or not you have visited this place, surely you know its memorable monuments. I’m especially thinking of a very significant one: the Statue of Liberty, iconic symbol of freedom and independence. Can you imagine New York without the Statue of Liberty? To me, it would be totally absurd.
Likewise, for the psalmist, it makes no sense to live without the correct understanding of the instructions (precepts) given by the Lord. The psalmist recognizes the necessity of God’s intervention in his life for the purpose of being guided in obedience to God’s decrees. As believers, it should be our priority to remain in God’s divine will and place our hope in God’s sovereign and eternal plan. Daily, let us be intentional in treasuring God’s presence and understanding the value that God’s love and salvation represent for each of us as part of God’s people.

Question to Ponder:
Are you living a freedom that comes from obeying God or one that accommodates your own desires?
My God, keep me steadfast and true to your promise! Keep me from the way of falsehood, and teach me to be obedient. Amen.
Radiate God’s light and share God’s truth.
Live with dignity and attain God’s fullness.
Don’t settle, answer God’s call.
God will use you if only you say yes!
