Pause

Metanoia is a Greek word that means conversion, repentance, or turning things around.

God’s mission is to turn things around — to renew all things and all people.

Is there anything in your life that could use some renewal?

Listen

Have mercy on me, God, according to your faithful love! Wipe away my wrongdoings according to your great compassion! Wash me completely clean of my guilt; purify me from my sin! Because I know my wrongdoings, my sin is always right in front of me.

Psalm 51:1-3

Think

We used to have gerbils. I would often sit and watch one of them run around and around inside a wheel… never really going anywhere, but running as fast as it could. Sometimes I find myself re-running the errors I have made over and over in my brain, feeling worse and worse for my mistakes. Just like a gerbil in a wheel.

Guilt — about things we have said or done to others or to ourselves — is one of the heaviest burdens we bear. But if God wants to make us new, then God wants to set us free from that kind of mental gerbil-wheel. The first step in being renewed is stepping outside of the gerbil wheel of guilt.

Pray

God of new beginnings, help me today to step out of the guilt-wheel and allow your love, your mercy, and your kindness toward me to set me free so I can make a different choice today. Amen.

Go

So then, if anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!

2 Corinthians 5:17

God has already begun the work of renewal in you.

Decide today to live from the new and not from the old!
