Ordinary Time

Pause

In athletics, on your mark” is the signal that precedes everything. Stop. Breathe. Get into position. God has something to say to you today. The race that matters is about to begin.

Listen

Aren’t two sparrows sold for a small coin? But not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father knowing about it already. Even the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:29-31

Think

There are players in baseball who dont make headlines. They dont hit the most home runs and are not the most famous. But coaches who really know baseball know them well, because they do the little things that win games. They always get on base. They move the runner. They never fail in the field. Their uniforms end up full of dirt. Their value doesnt depend on what the newspaper says. Jesus speaks of sparrows—small, common birds that almost no one notices. And he says that none fall to the ground without Gods knowledge. And you are worth more than many sparrows.

In a world that measures value by followers, grades, clothes, or who likes you, Jesus says something completely different:

You are already valuable. No conditions.

You dont have to earn that value. You already have it. God gave it to you before you opened your eyes this morning.

Question to Ponder:

In what area of your life do you find it hard to believe that you are valuable to God?

Pray

God, help me to believe what you say about me. When the world makes me feel small or invisible, remind me that you know me by name and that my worth comes from you. Amen.

Go

Go out today with purpose. Dont run alone. Run with the team God gave you, with the gifts God gave you, into the world God loves so much. On your mark, get set…go!
