Journey to the Cross

Pause

We can connect with God through our breathing.

Slowly breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Do this a few times.

God is with you.

Listen

I have asked one thing from the Lordit’s all I seek: to live in the Lord’s house all the days of my life, seeing the Lord’s beauty and constantly adoring his temple. Because he will shelter me in his own dwelling during troubling times; he will hide me in a secret place in his own tent; he will set me up high, safe on a rock.

Psalm 27:4-5

Think

Have you ever had one of those days… where everything goes right? You ace the test you studied for. You get lost in a long, unexpected conversation with a close friend. Your favorite artist releases a new song, and it’s an absolute banger. It’s almost like the grass is greener.

Well, that is kind of like “seeing the Lord’s beauty and constantly adoring his temple,” like the psalm says. There’s this overwhelming joy, peace, and hope. You feel a deep sense of gratitude for God’s presence and love, and all you want is to be close to God, to rest in God’s grace. The psalm talks about God as our shelter and a place where we can dwell. We often dwell on the things that annoy, sadden, or anger us. If we rest in God as our shelter, we might learn to dwell on joy, peace, and hope.

Question to Ponder:

How can you tune your heart to the frequency of one of those days or moments where everything went right and carry that feeling with you into today?

Pray

Great Creator, one who made the seas, the sky, and the earth: I give you thanks for the days where things went right. Give me eyes to seek and see the good in every day, and strengthen and shelter me during the troubling times, for you are with me in both. Amen.
