How we see things is a matter of perspective, and we are each limited by the experiences our lives have brought us. We simply cannot be truly objective.

But our Maker sees it all, knows every experience, and sees us - each one - with absolute clarity.

The result is love and acceptance. Open yourself now to be seen clearly, and to be loved.

Listen

Every high priest chosen from among mortals is put in charge of things pertaining to God on their behalf, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is subject to weakness; and because of this he must offer sacrifice for his own sins as well as for those of the people. And one does not presume to take this honor, but takes it only when called by God, just as Aaron was. So also Christ did not glorify himself in becoming a high priest, but was appointed by the one who said to him, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”; as he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”

Hebrews 5:1-6

Think

Think of those in your school, community, or place of work who are looked down upon or even bullied.

When we follow Jesus, our place in the sight of God is as priests to others. That is, we represent God through our gentle kindness and open hearts. All people are beloved children of God, made in God’s image and worthy of honor and respect.

As you think about the people you encounter each day, consider how your presence in their lives might become a sign of hope or encouragement. Think about the gifts you have been given and how you might employ them in lifting up each person you meet.

Jesus reminds us that our place in the sight of God is in doing for the least of our brothers and sisters, and in so doing, for him.

Pray

Help me to see your image in each person I meet, and show them their worth in your eyes. Amen.

Go

There is a place for you,
A place where you are always safe.
It is found wherever you are,
Always within sight of the God
Who loves you,
Cares for you,
Seeks the very best for you,
And watches you

All the way home.
