Following the Star

Pause

I want to be an instrument of your peace
I want to talk about your love
of what you did for me
How can I forget?
I want to help others
That’s my prayer

Here are my hands
Here is my voice
Here are my feet
I want to go
Use my life if I am useful to you
God

translated from Spanish, Daniel Calvetti in “Instrumento de tu Paz” (2009)

Listen

Whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction so that we could have hope through endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures. May the God of endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude toward each other, similar to Christ Jesus’ attitude. That way you can glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ together with one voice.

Romans 15:4-6

Think

There is a saying in Puerto Rico that “he who does not listen to advice does not grow old.” It’s fun to be a kid, but staying young forever would mean missing out on a lot of valuable life and growth found through experience and maturity.

Ergo, study and appreciate the wisdom of our ancestors to learn how to live and grow today. Our biblical and historical ancestors sacrificed much to leave you the necessary wisdom to find peace and hope amid uncertainty.

Romans says something similar: The scriptures were written long ago for us – and they provide wisdom that gives us hope and endurance and encouragement.

There is peace and hope in wisdom. Read, listen, meditate, place yourself in the author’s shoes, immerse yourself in the wisdom of scripture, and grow old.

Pray

God of wisdom, grant me a student’s heart.

Make me an attentive and mindful listener.

I want to value wisdom and integrate it in my life.

Amen.

Go

Only in God do I find rest; my salvation comes from him.

Psalm 62:1
