Following the Star

Pause

Lay you down your burdens, all your fears
And I don't need your deepest secrets whispered in my ear
'Cause I can hear your heart

from “Hear Your Heart,” James Bay, 2015

At this moment, let your heart be open, because God can hear your heart.

Listen

Let the king live as long as the sun, as long as the moon, generation to generation. Let him fall like rain upon fresh-cut grass, like showers that water the earth. Let the righteous flourish throughout their lives, and let peace prosper until the moon is no more.

Psalm 72:5-7

Think

Daylight Saving Time is the worst! Remember a few weeks back when the time changed? The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time is to make better use of daylight. If I am honest, I act in the same ways I did before turning my clock backward or forward. I fail to take advantage of the new light set before me.

As we are anticipating the birth of Christ, we are also anticipating the one who is the embodied light for a dark world. The birth of Christ yields to this world true hope, everlasting love, unspeakable joy, and peace that surpasses all understanding. Sadly, even in our anticipation, we act as if nothing has or will ever change.

Thankfully, the son endures and continues to shine in our darkness. Christ is like rain upon fresh-cut grass and showers that water the earth with love and joy. When we fully take advantage of the light before us, righteousness will flourish throughout our lives, and peace will prosper until the moon is no more.

Pray

Lord, let peace prosper. And may the peace of the Lord be always with us. Amen.

Go

The Lord bless you and protect you.

The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you.

The Lord lift up his face to you and grant you peace.

Numbers 6:24-26
