Following the Star
Take a few deep breaths.
As you inhale, breathe in God’s peace for you.
As you exhale, breathe out all that keeps you from being at peace.
Let me hear what the Lord God says, because he speaks peace to his people and to his faithful ones. Don’t let them return to foolish ways. God’s salvation is very close to those who honor him so that his glory can live in our land.
Psalm 85:8-9
“May the peace of Christ be with you.” “And also with you.” We share these words with one another during worship services, following the prayer of confession and declaration of forgiveness. After we are reminded of God’s loving forgiveness of us, we extend that forgiveness to one another through the passing of the peace.
Christ’s peace is a gift to us and is one that we can share with one another, not just with a Sunday morning handshake, but in how we treat one another. Perhaps you share Christ’s peace when you say something kind to someone else, or when you pursue justice in your community.
When we share Christ’s peace through the ways we live our lives, we bring glory to God as our actions proclaim that God’s love is greater than the brokenness we encounter in the world. May the peace of Christ be with you.
Rosy Robson
Prince of Peace, thank you for your loving forgiveness and your reconciling love. Equip me to proclaim your peace in the words that I say and in the ways I live my life. May my words and actions bring glory to your holy name. Amen.
Go now to a responsible involvement in the world.
Be at peace,
for God who created you,
Christ who redeems you,
and the Spirit who sustains you
go with you today and every day.
