A shoot will grow up from the stump of Jesse; a branch will sprout from his roots. The Lord’s spirit will rest upon him, a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of planning and strength, a spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord. He will delight in fearing the Lord. He won’t judge by appearances, nor decide by hearsay.

Think

Have you ever prayed for a new day? Then, seek the God of new days.

Find peace in the promise that God’s mercies are new every day. Find peace in the knowledge that the record of your sins has been nailed to the cross forever. Find peace in the assurance that God remains faithful even when you are unfaithful.

Rest today. Rest, knowing that you have been given a Christ and a Kingdom of Heaven that lives in you and among you. Rest in knowing that you are a partaker of the divine nature. Rest in a God who does not judge according to appearances or decide by hearsay.

Celebrate the announcement of Christ. Celebrate that today you can live the prophecy. Experience Advent.

God, thank you for the hope of this new day.

Create new things to be born out of dry and arid land, where there is no water.

May I embrace the peace of Jesus today.
