Ordinary Time
Let’s share a breath prayer. Three beats on the inhale, thinking, “God is holy.”
Hold one beat, thinking, “And.”
Exhale for three beats, thinking, “I am holy.”
Try it three times! “God is holy – and – I am holy.”
Our appeal isn’t based on false information, the wrong motives, or deception. Rather, we have been examined and approved by God to be trusted with the good news, and that’s exactly how we speak. We aren’t trying to please people, but we are trying to please God, who continues to examine our hearts.
We were glad to share not only God’s good news with you but also our very lives because we cared for you so much.
1 Thessalonians 2:3-4, 8
Some folks are just people pleasers! They will change their thoughts and feelings on a topic based on what the people around them believe, rather than exercising their own critical thinking skills. This is a dangerous way to live. You’ve probably been asked, “If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you?” While the answer to this question is obvious, it may not be as obvious what one should do if a friend bullies another person, cheats on a test, or lies to their parents.
That is why it is important that we be very clear about who we are and whose we are. We are children of the Most High God. We believe in treating everyone with kindness, respect, and love. Even when the crowd makes bad choices, let’s make it our goal to only follow the way of Jesus. This is how we become more holy, each and every day!

Question to Ponder:
Which value do you most treasure in your life and why?
God, please give me a sound mind, not swayed by the opinions of others. Help me seek your wisdom for everything that I do and say. May I know your will and do it. Amen.
As you go about your day, intentionally seek opportunities to be more like Jesus. How can you increase your love, care, or gentleness toward others? Make it your goal to practice one random act of kindness today.
