Ordinary Time
I will call upon your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

The Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. Won’t God provide justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he be slow to help them? I tell you, he will give them justice quickly. But when the Human One comes, will he find faithfulness on earth?”
Luke 18:6-8
When we watch the news and we feel small, Jesus reminds us that God loves using small people to make big change in our world. Jesus tells the story of the persistent widow to remind us that God hears the prayers of the weary and beaten down, not just the strong and successful. God sees even the most vulnerable, those who society and culture have marginalized. Jesus reminds us that God is not looking for power and wealth but persistent faithfulness.
Today, think of those around you in school or at work who are considered outcasts. How do you think Jesus would treat them if Jesus met them? How can you be like Jesus to them? Have you ever felt like an outcast? What do you think Jesus sees when Jesus looks at you?

God,
Today I confess
That I often see myself and those around me
Through the eyes of the world and not the eyes of God.
Give me your eyes
That I might see the value and beauty in myself as you do
That I might see the value and beauty in others.
Amen.
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour
