Journey to the Cross
A journey to the cross lies before you.
Will you go?
Preparation is part of the journey.
What you will take with you?
Which way will you go?
Who will join you?
Rest assured, God will be with you on your way.
“Stop collecting treasures for your own benefit on earth, where moth and rust eat them and where thieves break in and steal them. Instead, collect treasures for yourselves in heaven, where moth and rust don’t eat them and where thieves don’t break in and steal them. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21
When I pack for a trip, I consider which clothes will be good for the weather and what shoes are appropriate for the activities planned. I neatly tuck as many items as possible in my suitcase so I can be prepared for possible situations. None of that will matter if my luggage is lost when I arrive. All those things will be no good to me.
It’s important to take a moment and remember to prepare your heart for whatever might come your way as you journey through Lent. Resolve to be kind in difficult circumstances (like when your luggage is lost!), to be full of grace, and to share the love of Christ with others along your journey. Packing these heavenly treasures will bring more joy as you go than the right pair of shoes.

Lord, help me to fill my heart with love, grace, kindness, and generosity, so that it may overflow to everyone I encounter today. Amen.
You are my strength when I am weak,
You are the treasure that I seek;
You are my all in all.
Seeking You as a precious jewel,
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool;
You are my all in all.
