Journey to the Cross

Pause

A journey to the cross lies before you.

Will you go?

Preparation is part of the journey.

What you will take with you?
Which way will you go?
Who will join you?

Rest assured, God will be with you on your way.

Listen

I offer my life to you, Lord. My God, I trust you. Please don’t let me be put to shame! Don’t let my enemies rejoice over me! For that matter, don’t let anyone who hopes in you be put to shame; instead, let those who are treacherous without excuse be put to shame.

Make your ways known to me, Lord; teach me your paths.

Psalm 25:1-4

Think

I spent the night at a friend’s house who lives about two hours from me. I knew the route but used the GPS to tell me how long it would take to get home. I also planned to catch the awards ceremony of my son’s fishing tournament on my way back. I made sure to allow a little extra time for a pit stop. But when I left and turned the GPS on in the car, I noticed it was routing a different way, far from the fishing tournament. I headed the way I wanted to go and knew it would eventually reroute to my way. It did… but this route was much longer! I skipped the pit stop and still arrived too late to catch the ceremony.

The Lord is always leading and teaching us. God guides us with gentle whispers, through our circumstances and through other people. But we must pay attention. We do this by listening, praying, reading God’s word, and remembering that we have more to learn. The path God has for us is one full of life!

Pray

Mighty God, you are so patient with me! Thank you for not giving up. Thank you for forgiving me. Help me to be open to your teaching and to be guided by your love. Amen.

Go

You are my strength when I am weak,
You are the treasure that I seek;
You are my all in all.

Seeking You as a precious jewel,
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool;
You are my all in all.
