Ordinary Time

Pause

As we read the words of Scripture, take a moment and reflect on how God’s word has encouraged you and could bring action steps into your life.

“For the word of God is living and active…” (Hebrews 4:12, ESV)

Listen

“I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from this world. They were yours and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. This is because I gave them the words that you gave me, and they received them. They truly understood that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.”

John 17:6-8

Think

We read in today’s passage that Jesus received words from God and gave them to the disciples. The disciples received, understood, and believed.

I have been a believer for a long time, but recently God’s word seems so new and exciting to me. The word was revealed and given to me long ago as a child; however, now as an adult, I feel like I am truly receiving, understanding, and believing God’s word more than ever before.

Why? There was a time when I had been struggling with doubt and pride. I doubted that God’s word was true for me, that God could love me like it says in the Bible. I felt prideful, because I was questioning the heart of the Creator of the universe!

Once God revealed to me my doubt and pride, I repented and could finally receive, understand, and believe God’s word. Jesus has revealed the word of God to us all. What is standing in the way of us receiving, understanding, and believing?

Pray

Dear God, thank you for revealing and giving me your precious word to guide my life. Please begin to reveal to me anything that is keeping me from fully receiving, understanding, and believing the words you gave us in Jesus. You are faithful and I trust you for this. Amen.
