The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing. He lets me rest in grassy meadows; he leads me to restful waters; he keeps me alive. He guides me in proper paths for the sake of his good name.

Psalm 23:1-3

Think

A few years ago, my friend invited me to go take pictures on a nature walk together. About thirty minutes in, we noticed a small vein of running water cutting through the middle of the path we were walking. A few more meters down the road, it got bigger and then veered to the left. We followed in hot pursuit. As we followed, it became wider still and our shoes became soaked; our pant legs splattered with fresh mud.

We both laughed at our mess, full of the joy of an adventure into unknown territory. We knew we were routed by God’s guiding hand. God provided our rest in grassy meadows, our unseen guide through proper and not so proper paths. Sometimes those small moments are the ones that can recharge us the most if we take time to notice them.

Pray

Shepherding God, guide me to those places that provide rest and revive my life. Open me to receive the nudges that show me the joy you intend for my life. Amen.

Go

Those who find me find life; they gain favor from the Lord.
