Ordinary Time

Pause

Settle my soul.

Ease my anxious thoughts.

Calm my beating heart.

Listen

There is a river whose streams gladden God’s city, the holiest dwelling of the Most High. God is in that city. It will never crumble. God will help it when morning dawns. Nations roar; kingdoms crumble. God utters his voice; the earth melts. The Lord of heavenly forces is with us! The God of Jacob is our place of safety. Selah

Psalm 46:4-7

Think

Our world is full of change. Life changes. School changes. Work changes. Political changes. Loads of personal changes. What are some of the changes that have been happening in you and around you?

Change can make you feel out of control as if you are helpless and maybe even hopeless. It can make you feel disoriented and maybe even completely lost.

Take heart in the words of psalmist who reminds you that God is in control and will help you rise out of bed each morning to face whatever change comes your way. Take a moment to name some of the changes going on around you to God. Tell God about how the changes challenge you. Picture yourself laying these challenges in God’s hands. You might feel lighter already!

Pray

God my refuge, help me rise this day to challenges and changes that come my way.

Settle my soul, so that I may focus on your truth and remember that you are with me.

Amen.

Go

Take courage.

Trust in the Lord.

God is your refuge.
