Ordinary Time
Settle my soul.
Ease my anxious thoughts.
Calm my beating heart.
Come, see the Lord’s deeds, what devastation he has imposed on the earth— bringing wars to an end in every corner of the world, breaking the bow and shattering the spear, burning chariots with fire.
“That’s enough! Now know that I am God! I am exalted among all nations; I am exalted throughout the world!”
The Lord of heavenly forces is with us! The God of Jacob is our place of safety. Selah
Psalm 46:8-11
“That’s enough! Be still! Know that I am God.” Stillness is a difficult spiritual discipline in a world that always moves a mile a minute. Today, find a place in your home, a sanctuary of sorts, in which you can create a space for stillness. Silence your phone and lay it out of your hands. Settle into a comfy seat. Slow the rhythm of your heart by taking deep, long breaths.
Allow the breath of God to fill you in a new way. Allow the breath of God to calm your racing thoughts. Allow the breath of God to remind you that God is making all things new in you and the world around you.
Be still.

God, my refuge, breathe new life into me.
Bring stillness to my body, mind, and soul that I might know you in a deeper way.
Amen.
Take courage.
Trust in the Lord.
God is your refuge.
