Resurrection changes everything. It changes the way we see the past, the present, and the future. In the new life of Christ we are all offered the promise that death is not the end.

It really is only the beginning.

Begin now to see God at work to bring life again, to you and to every one.

Listen

The Lord is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation. There are glad songs of victory in the tents of the righteous: “The right hand of the Lord does valiantly; the right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly.” I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.

Psalm 118:14-17

Think

Back in the day when Jesus walked the dusty roads of Israel, he used the Psalms as his prayer book. Some 2100 years later, the Psalms remain a perfect guide for our prayers. They express the range of human experience and give us words for every situation. The Psalms even have words for Easter joy and praise for God’s resurrection power.

Psalm 118 gives thanks for “the right hand of the Lord.” It is a phrase that references trust in God to rescue us from our enemies and save us when our lives are on the line. In an increasingly violent world, it is reassuring to pray for rescue from real enemies who may literally threaten our lives. But even if we are not facing physical death, we may just as desperately need reassurance of God’s rescue.

If you have tried on your own strength to overcome a situation that is sucking the life out of you, then use this psalm as your prayer. Find courage to believe that God’s right hand is on your side.

Pray

Overcoming God, when I read the Bible it is clear that you lift people from death to life. By faith, I give thanks that you work that power in me. Guide me this day to live the life you have chosen for me. Amen.

Go

But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.
