Ordinary Time

Pause

God of glory and strength, come and sit with me.

Open me up to your light and truth.

God of glory and joy, come and be still with me.

Guide me in all I say and do.

So, since we have such a hope, we act with great confidence. We aren’t like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the Israelites couldn’t watch the end of what was fading away. But their minds were closed. Right up to the present day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. The veil is not removed because it is taken away by Christ. Even today, whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts. But whenever someone turns back to the Lord, the veil is removed.

2 Corinthians 3:12-16

I’ll call her Ms. G. She was my fifth-grade teacher in Miami. I hated school, was the new kid, and stuck out like a sour Asian thumb in a sea of Spanish-speaking Floridians. Life as a ten year old was less than ideal. But Ms. G treated me like I fit in, as if I belonged all along, as if I was special. Her influence shaped my sense of confidence and identity, and I thank God for her faithfulness as an educator.

There is something uniquely special about Jesus the Christ, and thank God for Christ’s faithfulness. Jesus is the one through whom the veil is taken off — this veil of blindness, this ignorance of the truth, this lie that we are capable to live life without God. Jesus the Christ takes away all of those layers and says, “Come and give me your burdens. Let me unveil you.” A new life happens, and transformation begins. It’s a lifelong journey, and the most worthwhile one to make.

Pray

God of glory and release, thank you for being the one who welcomes me into a life unveiled so that I can live into your truth. Guide me in this transformative work so that I can be a witness of your faith, hope, and love in a world that desperately needs some unveiling. Amen.

God the Creator, bless me and keep me.

God the Redeemer, smile upon me and be gracious to me.

God the Light, lead me in the path of wisdom and truth.
