Listen

Give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make his deeds known to all people! Sing to God; sing praises to the Lord; dwell on all his wondrous works! Give praise to God’s holy name! Let the hearts rejoice of all those seeking the Lord! Pursue the Lord and his strength; seek his face always!

Think

At some point in your life, you might have played “Hide and Seek.” In case you haven’t, it’s a game where one person hides, and everyone else looks for them. The main point of the game is to find the person who’s hiding. This is what it can feel like when we want to hear from God—we’re searching for an answer. However, searching is not the same as seeking. Searching can feel aimless, but seeking is intentional.

Seeking God can be discouraging when we don’t hear what we think we should. But get this: God wants to be found. In fact, God is present in all things! The little things—leaves on the trees, ladybugs, the flowers that line our travel to school or work—are also places where we can find God. The most difficult part is seeing the world around us as God showing God’s face to us.

How can you seek God in the mundane or not-as-exciting things?

Loving God, in the midst of all the distractions in the world, may I seek you and your goodness. Amen.

Go

Take a few minutes to intentionally seek God in a way that makes sense for you. This could look like journaling, exploring nature, reading scripture, or spending time with friends.
