Journey to the Cross

Pause

“I seek you, I seek you.
With fire in my heart.
I seek you, I seek you.
Receive my adoration.
I long for you. I need you.
I love you more than my being.”

Marcos Witt, “Yo te busco” (I Look for You), on the album El Encuentro (The Meeting), 2002.

Listen

Seek the Lord when he can still be found; call him while he is yet near. Let the wicked abandon their ways and the sinful their schemes. Let them return to the Lord so that he may have mercy on them, to our God, because he is generous with forgiveness.

Isaiah 55:6-7

Think

In life there are opportunities that we cannot miss, because they happen and may not be repeated. For example, a concert of our favorite artist, or the opportunity to travel to another country, or to tell that special person how much we love him or her. Seeking God is another of those opportunities that we cannot miss, not because God is not available to be found, but because nothing guarantees that we will be available all the time to seek God.

Today’s passage makes an urgent and timely invitation to take advantage of every opportunity we have to seek God. Let us not allow our everyday lives to become our excuse for not turning to God. On the contrary, let them be the reason why we urgently need to draw near to God. The wonderful thing is that when we take this step, God does not reject us or judge us harshly. On the contrary, God promises to receive us with compassion and forgiveness. No matter how far away we are, God’s love and grace make it worthwhile to seek God today and always.

Question to Ponder:

What do you feel when you hear that what God has for us is compassion and forgiveness?

Pray

Lord, today I decide to take the opportunity I have to seek you with all my heart. I take refuge in your grace. Receive me with your compassion and transforming forgiveness. Amen.

Go

The Lord who loves you reminds you in Jeremiah 29:13, “They will seek me and find me, for they will seek me with their whole heart.”
