Back to School
You may have heard it before, but it doesn’t make it any less true…
You are the only you that this world will ever see.
Lean into it – fly your “you” flag – God made you who you are on purpose.
Why waste your time trying to be someone else?
We have many parts in one body, but the parts don’t all have the same function. In the same way, though there are many of us, we are one body in Christ, and individually we belong to each other. We have different gifts that are consistent with God’s grace that has been given to us.
Romans 12:4-6a
Organs in the body all play their role – each dependent on the other. Some might be more high profile, like the heart, but even the smallest, like the appendix, can shut everything down when they stop working right.
Teams consists of players all filling a position and needing to do it well. The football can’t be thrown to the receiver for them to score unless the center gets the ball into the quarterback’s hands.
Sure, the pilot flies the plane but if the baggage handlers don’t load the suitcases, you can’t take off.
No Enneagram number is best… No instrument in the orchestra is expendable… Every jigsaw puzzle piece is needed to complete the picture.
We know these things. But it doesn’t hurt to be reminded.
Whatever part you play – be the very best at it. Because you – and your role – matter to us all.

Thank you, God, for the unique roles we each play. No matter how big or small they may be on any given day.
Help me to do my part with joy and awareness that we ALL matter.
And give me the grace to notice and value the unique contributions of others as well.
Amen.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
