Pause

You may have heard it before, but it doesn’t make it any less true…

You are the only you that this world will ever see.

Lean into it – fly your “you” flag – God made you who you are on purpose.

Why waste your time trying to be someone else?

Listen

Next Jesse called for Abinadab, who presented himself to Samuel, but he said, “The Lord hasn’t chosen this one either.” So Jesse presented Shammah, but Samuel said, “No, the Lord hasn’t chosen this one.” Jesse presented seven of his sons to Samuel, but Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord hasn’t picked any of these.” Then Samuel asked Jesse, “Is that all of your boys?”

“There is still the youngest one,” Jesse answered, “but he’s out keeping the sheep.”

“Send for him,” Samuel told Jesse, “because we can’t proceed until he gets here.”

1 Samuel 16:8-11

Think

When our youngest son was in the 3rd grade, our family was moving across town. We had put a bid in on a house and were waiting anxiously to hear if we had gotten it. As I sat in the car with our kids during this tense time, I explained to them that we were waiting to hear if we got the house, and praying that it would work out. Our son said “It’s ok, Mom. God always has more ideas than just one.”

Even when we think all of the possibilities have been exhausted – God still has more ideas – and they are sometimes not what we thought were the obvious choices! God sees what we can’t – and that perspective always provides the best ideas!

Pray

Thank you, God, that even when it seems all of the possibilities have been exhausted, you still have more ideas for my life.

And thank you that I can trust they are the best ideas of all.

Amen.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
