Pause

You may have heard it before, but it doesn’t make it any less true…

You are the only you that this world will ever see.

Lean into it – fly your “you” flag – God made you who you are on purpose.

Why waste your time trying to be someone else?

Listen

So Jesse sent and brought him in. He was reddish brown, had beautiful eyes, and was good-looking. The Lord said, “That’s the one. Go anoint him.” So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him right there in front of his brothers. The Lord’s spirit came over David from that point forward.

Then Samuel left and went to Ramah.

1 Samuel 16:12-13

Think

God’s choice for king was the son who seemed so insignificant to his family that they didn’t even invite him to meet Samuel. He was out in the field with the sheep! But God had a really big idea for David – one that no one around him saw – not even his own family. God saw who David was and who he could become.

It is highly unlikely that you will ever be chosen as king or queen. And though possible, it’s improbable that you will be elected president. But God’s ideas for you and your life are just as important. When you are able to live into the gifts God has given you and you shine the light of your fullest self into the world, when you choose to live well and love well and believe the dreams God has for you – then the world is forever changed. You are the only you there will ever be. We need your light – believe God’s best dream for you and let it shine!

Pray

God, I cannot see what you see – but I want to trust your big ideas for my life.

Thank you for the gifts you give to me, and the dreams you have for me.

Give me the courage to be my true self!

Amen.

Go

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
