Ordinary Time
Take a moment and imagine the spaces in your community that need the power of justice and love. What does the space look like? Who is present in those spaces? What can you do to create space to act there?
Let’s not get tired of doing good, because in time we’ll have a harvest if we don’t give up. So then, let’s work for the good of all whenever we have an opportunity, and especially for those in the household of faith.
Galatians 6:9-10
Sometimes when I am cleaning my room or trying to check off my to-do list, I find myself wanting to give up right when I am near the end. I convince myself that I have done enough for the day and that this is a good place to stop, even though the work is not done.
The words of Galatians point toward a similar feeling. When we are doing good work that brings love and justice to those in need, it can be hard to keep going, especially when it seems that injustice has outweighed the good for so long. Yet, we are encouraged to not give up.
What I have learned is that when I want to give up, I might just need to rest. When we are tired of doing good, we might need to take a step back and rest, knowing that our work makes a difference. Even if that difference is just for one person, that is enough to keep going and doing good anytime we get a chance.

Question to Ponder:
What would it be like for you to learn to rest instead of giving up?
God, would you help us to rest, knowing that we do not carry the work alone? Would you bless what we have done and what we leave undone? Help us continue doing the work you have called us to do. Amen.
Go knowing that the Holy Spirit has created space for you to do the sacred work of bringing justice and love on earth as it is in heaven.
