Ordinary Time
Take a moment and imagine the spaces in your community that need the power of justice and love. What does the space look like? Who is present in those spaces? What can you do to create space to act there?
Little children, let’s not love with words or speech but with action and truth.
1 John 3:18
Often when you ask a child how they can help serve their community or family they give examples like “do my chores” or “give people food.” Yet when we grow older it might feel easier to respond with thoughts that don’t move us to actually act, thoughts that end when we are done speaking about the possibility of them.
Acting in our communities requires us to move past our comfort zones and acknowledge that we can’t fix it all. This can feel vulnerable and risky. Words and speech can be helpful too, especially when they are connected to truth-professing actions. While it might feel easier to talk about the ways that we would do something, if we don’t put action steps behind those words, our intentions about doing them are probably not truthful.
We are all children of God, and maybe it is time to lean into our childlike imagination and consider what we can do as individuals and as a community to show love to the world.

Question to Ponder:
How might a childlike imagination change how you bring justice and love to your community?
God, give me childlike wonder at the possibility of justice and love in my community. Give me the courage to bring these dreams to life. Amen.
Go knowing that the Holy Spirit has created space for you to do the sacred work of bringing justice and love on earth as it is in heaven.
