Ordinary Time
“O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!”
“Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus,” Stanza 1
“Then the king will reply to them, ‘I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.’”
Matthew 25:40
Growing up in the 1990s, it feels like Nike’s “Just Do It” tagline has always been part of my consciousness. That phrase is a secular representation of what I believe Jesus is telling the disciples in our scripture today.
As the modern day hands and feet of Christ, Jesus’ challenge to the disciples is a challenge for us. The goal of our walk with Jesus is not to simply know and appreciate the life abundant and free that the risen Christ provides. We also must not stall in the planning phase, no matter how important our questions are for growing a relationship with Christ. Jesus was the love of God incarnate, God’s word made flesh, active and alive among God’s creation.
Today, my prayer is that you will not just be grateful for God’s love in your life, but that you will feel the conviction to share it with others. Small things, like we learn in the parable of the mustard seed, make all the difference. We can each take action this day to help others know the love of God.

Question to Ponder:
How can I take action to share the love of God, to create welcoming space today?
Jesus, you showed your love by your action. Help me today to share that same love. One way I can take action to show your love is…
Grant me the peace to trust you, the wisdom to understand, and the courage to act in your name. Amen.
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.”
