It's hard to explain where inspiration comes from. A great book, a hard-hitting speech, insight about a scientific breakthrough - they often come from out of nowhere. Or so it seems.

Coming to a new understanding about God is inspirational too, by definition. Prepare your heart to follow the Spirit's leading.

Listen

Nicodemus said to him, "How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother’s womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit."

John 3:4-6

Think

Do you have questions for Jesus? You’re not the only one! Sometimes we all feel lost or inadequate and wonder when God is going to give us some more information so that we can figure out the meaning of life.

Everyone who knew Nicodemus would have seen him as a righteous person who was wise and knew all the answers. But here came Nicodemus, one of the most religious people of his day, bringing his questions to Jesus. Nicodemus knew he didn’t understand everything.

Today we’re reminded that even people who might seem like they have all the answers can have just as many questions as we have about faith. That should be encouraging to you. Even more, I hope you’re encouraged by the fact that Jesus actually cares about the questions and takes time to help us understand.

Pray

Spirit of God, remind me that I can bring my questions to you, and that you care enough to listen. Amen.
