Ordinary Time
Do you wish to immerse yourself in the depths of God’s presence?
but the Lord has said to me, “My love is all you need; for my power is fully displayed in weakness.” So I prefer to glory in being weak, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. And I also rejoice in the weaknesses, insults, needs, persecutions and difficulties that I suffer for Christ, because it is when I feel the weakest that I am the strongest.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
My older brother was a lifeguard for several years. And one of the lifeguard’s functions is to prevent accidents and rescue bathers in emergency situations. There were times when people did not have the strength to continue swimming or they got a sudden cramp and my brother, who was watching and keeping an eye on them, had to jump in to help them. When I compare that experience with our lives I find many similarities. Sometimes we feel we don’t have the strength to go on. And it is there, where we discover a great secret that helps us to win. We learn that to overcome our weaknesses we must rely on God’s strength. In other words, we stop focusing on our weaknesses to focus on the God who is strong. Yes, weaknesses are part of life, but they are also learning moments. Let us remember, God is ready and willing to provide us with His strength. God watches over us and is ready to help us. So the next time you find yourself confronted by your weakness, remember and declare that when you are weak, God is strong!

Question for reflection
What weaknesses do you give to God today?
Lord, teach me to learn that when I am weak, You are strong. Help me to put my trust in you. You are my lifeline. Amen.
