Ordinary Time

Pause

Take a moment to place yourself in a comfortable position.

Take a deep breath in, and slowly exhale. Do this as many times as you need to clear your mind.

Through scripture, reflection, and prayer, listen for the ways God is speaking to you.

Listen

Praise the Lord! Because it is good to sing praise to our God! Because it is a pleasure to make beautiful praise!

The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem, gathering up Israel’s exiles. God heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. God counts the stars by number, giving each one a name.
Our Lord is great and so strong! God’s knowledge can’t be grasped! The Lord helps the poor, but throws the wicked down on the dirt!

Psalm 147:1-6

Think

One of the ways we grow or rebuild our faith is through the praise and worship of God. This doesn’t always have to be through music or through church, although these are both good things. We can praise and worship God through simply spending time remembering who God is, what God has done, and what God continues to do in our world.

God is beyond our imaginations while also being as close as our very breath, knowing us by name, and caring about our lives. Our psalm reminds us that not only does God know all that is in creation, but God is also the one who heals us when we are broken and holds us when we are crushed. This is one reason we offer praise. Praising God can help us remember those moments when we were comforted.

Question to Ponder:

Besides going to church on Sundays, what are some ways you can praise God in your daily life?

Pray

God, you are always worthy of worship and praise. Sometimes it can be hard for me to remember that. Sometimes I can’t find the words to say, or the things to do to praise you. Help me to find ways to praise you in my daily life. Amen.

When life feels too heavy to keep moving forward, may we remember our hope and strength are in Christ.
