He also said to them, “Imagine that one of you has a friend and you go to that friend in the middle of the night. Imagine saying, ‘Friend, loan me three loaves of bread because a friend of mine on a journey has arrived and I have nothing to set before him.’ Imagine further that he answers from within the house, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up to give you anything.’ I assure you, even if he wouldn’t get up and help because of his friendship, he will get up and give his friend whatever he needs because of his friend’s brashness."

Think

God is not just your spiritual parent; God is also your friend. Learn to lean on that friendship. Do not give up on your prayers. Say them once. Ask again. God wants to answer your prayers. They may not be answered in the way you want them to be answered, but when you pray, what you are doing is asking God to be part of the solution for your life. Trust that God is answering your prayers to benefit you in the best possible way.

God does not neglect your prayers. God is not like the friend in the scripture that says he cannot help because it is not convenient. God longs to hear from you and answer you. Sometimes with unanswered prayers, you may discover that there is something beneath your prayers that needs to be addressed. You may have a hidden reason within your prayers, which may not be in your best interest. Allow God to sort it out. Trust that God loves you and wants the best for you.

God, help me understand when you do not answer my prayers that it does not mean that you do not love me. Help me hold on to my prayers. Help me remember that you always love me and want the best for me. Amen.

God loves you deeply and passionately. God wants a wonderful and exciting relationship with you. God wants to communicate with you and listen to you. God wants you to hear what God is saying to you today.

Go into today, knowing that you are profoundly loved and that you have a close and intimate relationship with the Creator of the Universe because you prayed.
