Obsession. That is a very strong word which describes the way someone or something can dominate a person's life. To be obsessed is to have almost no control over your feelings.

The reign of Christ is not that way. It is an invitation accepted to a way of life, not something that is forced upon us.

You are invited now to find your way into Christ's reign. Accept the invitation gladly!

Listen

Now these are the last words of David: The oracle of David, son of Jesse, the oracle of the man whom God exalted, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the favorite of the Strong One of Israel: The spirit of the Lord speaks through me, his word is upon my tongue. The God of Israel has spoken, the Rock of Israel has said to me: One who rules over people justly, ruling in the fear of God, is like the light of morning, like the sun rising on a cloudless morning, gleaming from the rain on the grassy land.

2 Samuel 23:1-4

Think

God is still speaking, if we would have ears to listen. There are messages to be heard, comfort to be received, strength to be gained, and hope to be given. There are mysteries that God wants to reveal to us. Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

God doesn’t often split open the heavens, but God instead speaks with a quiet and simple word. That’s what David experienced. God used circumstances, experiences, and the voices of others to speak to David. Then God spoke through David to others.

The God who reigns is still speaking. Be still today, and listen.

Pray

Speak, O Lord. Create a stillness in me, that I may hear and understand your voice. Amen.

Go

Blessings abound where-e're Christ reigns:
The prisoners leap to lose their chains,
The weary find eternal rest,
And all who suffer want are blessed.
