Ordinary Time

Pause

Take a moment to be still, breathe deeply, and think of all the moments when you knew that God was with you today.

Listen

Clap your hands, all you people! Shout joyfully to God with a joyous shout! Because the Lord Most High is awesome, he is the great king of the whole world.

Psalm 47:1-2

Think

Do you prefer going to a sporting event or to a concert? Which of those environments makes you the most excited? One of my favorite things about events like those are when the entire crowd gets involved in cheering and yelling. It’s great to watch the wave make its way around a stadium. It’s so much fun to sing along at the top of your lungs in a stadium full of music fans.

There is something about clapping, shouting and singing that engages our bodies more fully in an experience. It makes sense that we should try using our bodies in the same ways when we think of worshiping God. If we believe God is great, it can be fun and faithful to use our bodies and voices to celebrate the joy of the Lord!

Question to Ponder:

How can you praise God with your body today – maybe singing loudly, clapping your hands, dancing, or something else?

Pray

Dear God, show me the ways that I can celebrate you today. Help me to move my body around, clap my hands and use my voice to worship you. Thank you for filling my spirit and my body with joy because of how great you are!

Amen.

Go

May the knowledge that God is always with you fill your heart with joy.
