Ordinary Time
Take a moment to be still, breathe deeply, and think of all the moments when you knew that God was with you today.
God has gone up with a joyous shout—the Lord with the blast of the ram’s horn. Sing praises to God! Sing praises! Sing praises to our king! Sing praises because God is king of the whole world! Sing praises with a song of instruction!
God is king over the nations. God sits on his holy throne. The leaders of all people are gathered with the people of Abraham’s God because the earth’s guardians belong to God; God is exalted beyond all.
Psalm 47:5-9
Sometimes it can be hard to trust those who are in leadership over us. Politicians disappoint us. Our parents can frustrate us. Teachers might not give us the clarity we need. Our team captains can give us bad advice.
Thankfully, we can always trust God’s leadership. God is greater than any human leader there has ever been or ever will be. God leads us with compassion and with confidence. And God has what’s best for us at the center of God’s heart. If we know and believe this, then one of our only responsibilities is to worship God! The psalmist urges us to sing praises. One of the most natural ways to worship God is through using our voices to sing, and trusting in God’s leadership is something worth singing about!

Question to Ponder:
Do you believe that God can be trusted? How does your belief make you feel about worshiping God?
God, help me to remember that even when people let me down, you never will. Thank you for always wanting what’s best for me, and for creating everyone to be in relationship with you. Help me to be freer with how much I talk and sing about how good you are.
Amen.
May the knowledge that God is always with you fill your heart with joy.
