Pause

Because you belong to Christ Jesus, God blesses you with peace that no one can completely understand.

Philippians 4:7 (CEV)

Listen

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger because you are with me. Your rod and your staff— they protect me.

Psalm 23:4

Think

Have you even been in darkness – I mean deep, can’t-see-your-hand-in-front-of-your-face darkness? It’s extremely disconcerting. Not because something is going to jump out and get you, but because you have no idea where you are. Left, right, forward, backward – they have no meaning because no matter what you do or where you go, you’re still in the darkness, and it feels like there is no way out.

But there is. There always is with God. Our faith in God won’t magically turn on the light and make all the darkness go away, but it does provide the comfort of knowing that we aren’t alone in the darkness, no matter how dark it is. We can hold on to God who is with us in the darkness until it begins to fade into light, and then the left, right, forward, and backward take on new meaning as we navigate our way through.

Question to Ponder:

Who in your life do you talk to when you’re feeling alone and in the dark?

Pray

God in the light and the darkness, I give thanks that even when I can’t find my way on my own, you are there to lead me.

When I don’t know which way to go, I am thankful that you are there to show me the way.

In your name we pray, amen.

Go

May the peace of God surround you.

May the peace of Christ uphold you.

May the peace of the Holy Spirit sustain you.
