Ordinary Time
Think of something you want. Now think of something you need. In which of the two do you see God?
Conduct yourselves with all humility, gentleness, and patience. Accept each other with love, and make an effort to preserve the unity of the Spirit with the peace that ties you together. You are one body and one spirit, just as God also called you in one hope. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all, who is over all, through all, and in all.
Ephesians 4:2-6
Sometimes we feel lonely. In those moments, we need to be reminded that there are people who love us. Love is what allows us to understand ourselves as the world and the body of Christ.
On one occasion, I needed the help of a friend to get to a place. Working with the GPS was complicated because of the meters, the road exits, the changes in the vehicle—there were many details at the same time. This particular time, my friend had a lot of patience and love. Even though I was stressed, he did not leave me and supported me until I reached my destination.
Unity helps us reach our destination. Ephesians affirms that being humble, kind, and tolerant is all that is necessary to help people and understand each other as a team. This team can exist to win a game, develop a strategy, or give directions. Unity, or being one with others, helps us to see God in our needs and decisions. Let’s work toward unity as we help each other on our journeys.

Question to Ponder:
How can unity with people help you achieve God’s purpose?
God, help me to understand that you do not leave me alone. Show me who I should accompany. Give me the strength to be one with others.
Amen.
