Ordinary Time

Pause

To live in relationship with God is to open my heart every day to God’s wisdom, love, and Spirit, allowing God to transform my life.

Listen

Therefore, since we have been made righteous through his faithfulness, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have access by faith into this grace in which we stand through him, and we boast in the hope of God’s glory.

Romans 5:1-2

Think

I remember as a child that I was a bit naughty and caused some headaches for my parents. But despite my behavior, I always enjoyed a healthy relationship with my parents. And this was because the love they had for me was immense and went above and beyond my weaknesses and shortcomings.

There is an aspect of unmerited grace in this story. That same unmerited grace is that which God bestows on us through faith in God. By having a relationship with God, we profess faith, and that faith brings us peace. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross granted us the freedom to approach God without the need to exercise rituals and sacrifices to receive God’s forgiveness. Rather, it justifies us and absolves us of our sin by pure grace. No matter what we do, God loves us and wants to be in relationship with us.

Question to Ponder:

Am I walking in peace with God thanks to faith, or do I struggle with guilt that has already been forgiven?

Pray

God, I pray that your grace, love, and truth will always be greater in me, that my sin and insecurities will not keep me from noticing your grace. Amen.
