Ordinary Time

Pause

Pause to see Jesus.

See Jesus living in you.

See the love of Jesus shining through you to others in your neighborhood.

Listen

May the God of endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude toward each other, similar to Christ Jesus’ attitude. That way you can glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ together with one voice.

Romans 15:5-6

Think

Band directors, sports coaches, classroom teachers, parents, friends, and maybe even the vast majority of all humans worldwide agree: attitude matters. Attitude can transform a mopey rainy day into a couch cushions tent or a gloriously muddy backyard slip-n-slide. Attitude can transform a daunting obstacle into a motivational, team-building challenge. Attitude can turn enemies into friends, slogs into sing-a-longs, and boring road trips into an ABC sign game or a viral video. Attitude makes all the difference in the world.

Attitude is also contagious. For better or worse, our attitudes affect one another. And while we may know those whose attitude seems inevitably rosy or uncompromisingly negative, we know that we can usually choose to have a more positive attitude. Maybe what we need is a reminder. Maybe we need a classroom or locker room-style poster that reads “Attitude Matters!” Where will you place your sign today?

Question to Ponder

Do you want to make an “Attitude Matters” sign, and if so, where will you place it?

Pray

Loving God of all creation, please transform my sometimes-sour attitude into the attitude of Jesus.

Help me to have a Christ-like attitude and share it with my neighbors for your glory.

Amen.

Go

Go.

Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Love all of your neighbors.

Love all of yourself.
