Ordinary Time

Pause

Pause to see Jesus.

See Jesus living in you.

See the love of Jesus shining through you to others in your neighborhood.

Listen

“Those who receive you are also receiving me, and those who receive me are receiving the one who sent me. Those who receive a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. Those who receive a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.”

Matthew 10:40-41

Think

Jesus sends his followers out into the world to share good news of healing, hope, and love. Jesus tells his followers that when others receive them into their homes or receive the good news, then those who received them were not merely welcoming Jesus’ followers; they were also welcoming Jesus himself.

Imagine that. Imagine how followers of Jesus today are called to share the good news in the world. And imagine how your friends, neighbors, and strangers might welcome Jesus when they welcome you as an ambassador of good news.

You have opportunities to embody the good news of Jesus in the world today. You have opportunities to act out your faith, hope, and love. You have opportunities to welcome others, care for others, and to share how your hope in Jesus turns your neighborhood upside down. Today is the day. Go.

Question to Ponder

How do you think you can live as an ambassador of the good news of Jesus today?

Pray

Loving God of all creation, help me to live as an ambassador of Jesus today.

Help me to live in such a way that your love is extended to everyone in my neighborhood.

Amen.

Go

Go.

Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Love all of your neighbors.

Love all of yourself.
