God, let me hear only you.
Should we continue sinning so grace will multiply? Absolutely not! All of us died to sin. How can we still live in it? Or don’t you know that all who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore, we were buried together with him through baptism into his death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too can walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:1b-4
It seems everything good has a cost to it. We pay to eat. We pay to have a roof over our heads, and for the clothes we wear. We pay for water. We pay for transportation. Everything from Chapstick to education has a price tag.
God’s grace is one of the only things we cannot buy. We do not have to come to God with a 50-dollar bill praying he will give us an ounce of grace. Grace is what God gives to us freely, but we can fail to appreciate it. We can take for granted God’s good grace.
In granting us a thinking that is upside-down, God leads us to see grace as a wonderful gift that ushers us to live rightly rather than becoming increasingly comfortable in our sin. To walk into the newness of life is to view grace as God nudging us to leave our past for the future Jesus secured for us.

God,
I have newness of life through the death of Jesus. I also have grace because of your love towards me. Teach me how to think differently about grace, cherishing your gift and not devaluing it.
Amen.
As the day flows and your mind goes, may your thinking mirror God’s.
