Ordinary Time

Pause

It is often necessary to step back and look at something from a different point of view. One of Jesus’ many gifts was the ability to make people see something seemingly ordinary from a completely new perspective.

As you go about your day, allow Jesus to help you keep things—good and bad—in perspective.

Listen

I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

Philippians 3:10-11

Think

Have you ever been so caught up in getting to church on time that once you got there it was hard to focus on worship?

Sometimes, we can be so focused on doing the right things and thinking the right things we miss the larger point. We can get distracted by good events and good works and forget God is also worshipped through our relationships. We can also be so distracted by relating to everyone else we forget our personal righteousness also matters.

As Paul points out, Jesus shows us a third option. Our perspective shifts when we realize we must become what we already are: like Christ.

Honestly following Jesus will lead us to pursue the best actions and the highest thoughts.

Pray

Leader of Life, I want to do the right things, think the right things, and love the world fully. Lead me into seeking after you first, so righteous love will follow. Amen.

Go

It’s easy to only think about things from our one, limited perspective. Jesus pushes us to see differently.

Allow yourself to be challenged. Allow your eyes to be opened. Allow your life to be changed.

Go now, and let the value of knowing Jesus change the lens through which you see the world.
