Pause

We live with so much light around, it's hard to imagine a world in total darkness. We are used to everything being illuminated.

The life of the spirit can be quite different, however. We can ignore what is revealed and turn our inner eyes away from the truth.

Take just a moment now to turn your attention to the Spirit that has something for you to see, something new for you to know.

Listen

Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is now the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers; the night is far gone, the day is near. Let us then lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Romans 13:11-12

Think

Getting out of bed in the morning is, for a lot of people, the single hardest thing they do each and every day. These folks LOVE to sleep, and morning is just an unwelcome hardship for them!

But there is just no denying the sunrise. Sooner or later, summer or winter, Daylight Savings Time or not, the morning illumination is going to impose itself on all of us. We have to make a choice – to live like the night will never end, or accept the reality that the daytime has arrived.

God encourages the latter. The light of salvation is coming closer and closer all the time. Better to rise and greet the inevitable dawn of God’s purpose than to pull the covers over our heads and pretend that God will not win.

Pray

God, I want to be on your side. Wake me up to the dawn of your grace. Amen.

Go

Wake up from your sleep, climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light! So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times!
