Ordinary Time

Pause

I want to walk as a child of the light.
I want to follow Jesus.

Kathleen Thomerson in
“I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light” (1970)

Listen

The Lord is good and does the right thing; he teaches sinners which way they should go. God guides the weak to justice, teaching them his way.

Psalm 25:8-9

Think

Our God is an active God. Our God is a present God. Our God is with us and always teaching us, guiding us.

Our role? To listen. To study. To adopt a learner’s mind. To be open. To be mindful. To watch for guideposts along the way. To look for the path illuminated by God.

Our role is also to move, to get going. We aren’t called to stand still in our lives or in our faith. We are called to walk a path, physically and metaphorically.

As the Spanish poet, Antonio Machado, wrote, “The path is made by walking.”

So… what are you waiting for?

God is in the lead.

Let’s go!

Wendy Johnson

Question to Ponder:

How can you take one step along your path today?

Pray

Creator God, I don’t always understand where I’m going, but I trust you to guide me there.

Give me strength, courage, faith, and hope to follow the path you are illuminating for me.

I want to go.

Amen.

Go

The path is made by walking.

Antonio Machado in the poem,
“Traveler, There is No Path” (1917)
