Journey to the Cross
Can a king be humble?
With robes and jewels, pomp and circumstance, power and servants?
Jesus – the humble king – seeks to serve, not to be served.
Let’s welcome him into our lives today.
Lord, please save us! Lord, please let us succeed!
The one who enters in the Lord’s name is blessed; we bless all of you from the Lord’s house. The Lord is God! He has shined a light on us! So lead the festival offering with ropes all the way to the horns of the altar. You are my God—I will give thanks to you! You are my God—I will lift you up high! Give thanks to the Lord because he is good, because his faithful love lasts forever.
Psalm 118:25-29
Can you hear the desperation at the beginning of this scripture? The psalmist petitions, “Lord, please save us! Lord, please let us succeed!” You can hear desperation, but in the midst of that desperation, there is also the tone of trust that God will intercede.
God’s faithful love that endures forever extends to us, and so does God’s promise that God will answer our prayers.
This psalm reminds us to not only reach out in prayer when we’re in need but also to thank God for being there for us always.

Dear God, thank you that you are always here for me, to hear my prayers and to respond.
Thank you for loving me no matter what.
Amen.
We are to model Jesus’s life.
How can you serve God and others today?
