Pause

Most of us have more than enough to deal with today to be very concerned about what will happen tomorrow. Yet we do wonder about what we can expect in the hours, days, and years ahead.

The God of our present is also the God of our future. Right now is a good time to be still in the moment and to trust all our time to the One who is here – and listening.

Listen

For this purpose he called you through our proclamation of the good news, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter.

2 Thessalonians 2:14-15

Think

There was a time in college when I wasn’t really standing firm for anything. My faith was kind of all over the map and I jumped from church to church, trying to find somewhere that I fit.

I never got really connected at any church and I know now, as I look back, how much that hurt me. Skipping around and not finding a firm foundation for my faith to grow caused me to make some poor choices. I didn’t do a good job of following the foundation that had been built in my growing up years.

It’s never too early to start building and growing upon a foundation. God was good and walked me through that season, but I wish I hadn’t struggled as much as I did.

Stand firm!

Pray

God, I pray for all who are trying to find their place in the church and your kingdom. Help them to stand firm and to find a solid foundation they can have to build deeper faith and connections with you. Amen.
