Ordinary Time

Pause

Open your eyes.

Open your ears.

Open your heart.

Trust Jesus to lead the way.

Listen

Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around himself (for he was naked) and jumped into the water. The other disciples followed in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they weren’t far from shore, only about one hundred yards.

John 21:7-8

Think

The beloved disciple looks down at the water and then back up at the man standing on the shores. With new eyes, he sees Jesus, their friend, their teacher, their beloved one. Peter’s heart bursts open, and he dives towards Christ. The disciples are filled with an abundance of gratitude as they meet Jesus on the shore.

When we open our eyes, open our hearts to Jesus, we can’t help but dive into the waters of his love, bursting with an abundance of gratitude for God’s saving grace.

Today, how can you open your heart to Jesus, seeing him with new eyes? Maybe you go out for a walk by a river, a pond, a stream, a pool. Look down at the water and see how the world is reflected. Maybe, just maybe, you might see Jesus.
